Rachael Sheehy

VIOLA

Rachael, founder of the Gustav Holst Ensemble, was educated at St Paul’s Girls‘ School, where she was awarded a Gustav Holst Memorial Scholarship. She went on to study at the Royal College of Music with Grigori Zhislin and Simon Roland Jones. She won the Cecil Aronowitz Viola Competition and was awarded a Martin Musical Scholarship and subsequently studied at the Music Hochschule in Vienna with Thomas Kakuska, from the legendary Alban Berg Quartet. As a chamber musician, Rachael has collaborated with Patricia Kopatchinskaja, the Eggner Trio, members of the Vienna Philharmonic and the Artis Quartet. As a soloist, Rachael played the first viola solo in Metamorphosen under Sir Neville Marriner at the Hofburg Palace, and Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante with the Armenian Philharmonic. Rachael has also performed with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, BBC Philharmonic and London Mozart Players.

Lucy Jeal

VIOLIN

Lucy is passionate about communicating through music. She feels equally at home playing in the great European concert halls or giving Bach to Baby duo concerts around London, introducing many people of all ages to classical music for the first time. Chamber music has always played an important part of Lucy’s life and has included piano quartets with Alfred Brendel in a worldwide tour, including Carnegie Hall, and guest leading the Brodsky string quartet with concerts in Holland, Italy and across the UK. She is a long-term member of the English Chamber Orchestra, a principal with the Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique and joint leader of  Ensemble Reza. Highlights from Lucy’s early career include performing Tchaikovsky's violin concerto with the London Philharmonic Orchestra at the Royal Festival Hall, after winning the London Philharmonic/Pioneer 'Young Soloist of the Year' and recording a studio recital for BBC Radio 3 'Young Artists Forum'.

Anna De Bruin

VIOLIN

Anna studied at the Royal College of Music, the Guildhall and then in Moscow. She has performed in many major concert halls worldwide with the London Mozart Players and the English Chamber Orchestra, RPO and London Contemporary Orchestra. She has led the Ozero Ensemble for an Apple TV live broadcast and appeared as guest leader of English Sinfonia Chamber Ensemble. She has guest led the Riot Ensemble and performed as a soloist with a quartet for the Musikprotokol Festival in Austria as part of the London Contemporary Orchestra Chamber Ensemble. She makes regular appearances with her quartet, Brother Tree Sound, and was guest leader of LCO ensemble at Queen Elizabeth Hall for PRS New Music Biennial and the OSJ ensemble at the Gibraltar Literary Festival (with Ben Okri) and performing Bach’s concerto in A minor with London Concertante. She has an MA in experimental composition.

Morgan Goff

VIOLA

Morgan is based in London he works extensively as a session, chamber and solo violist. He is currently the violist of the Gavin Bryars Ensemble, the Locrian Ensemble, Primivera, Cirrus String Quartet and the Australia House Ensemble. He also works with London Sinfonietta, London Mozart Players and Britten Sinfonia amongst others. Most recent solo work includes the premier of Gavin Bryars’ Viola Concerto with the Tasmania Symphony Orchestra in 2021 with the UK Premiere and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra in early 2022. He works closely with Raphael Terroni, with whom he has performed and recorded much of the English viola repertoire. His instrument is a Daniel Parker viola, London, 1715.

Pavlos Carvalho

CELLO

Pavlos has won prizes in international music competitions in England, Italy, Germany, and Russia. He has performed as a solo and chamber musician at the Purcell Room, Royal Albert Hall, Cadogan Hall and the Teatro dal Verme, Milan and recorded for the BBC. Pavlos is currently recording the Bach suites for Willowhayne Records and Naxos. He regularly performs Bach’s complete Suites and Beethoven’s Sonatas in the Brighton and Chichester Festivals. He has performed concertos with the Royal Philharmonic and Southern Pro Musica, Ensemble Reza and Covent Garden Chamber Orchestra as well as Tchaikovsky’s Rococo Variations with Sussex Symphony Orchestra at the Brighton Dome. Pavlos is a founding member and Artistic Director of Ensemble Reza. He is Director of Pro Corda Cello Courses and has given masterclasses for the London Cello Society and Cambridge University. Pavlos is also a Director of the Rebetiko Carnival, a charity and festival dedicated to the music of Greece and Asia Minor.
